He joined the Television Channel as a child announcer while studying at Royal College, Colombo and later joined the teledrama Neela Pabalu while he was away from school. He reached the pinnacle of popularity through 'Neela Beads' and won the award for Most Popular Actor at the awards ceremony for his role in the teledrama 'Neela Pabalu' telecast on Sirasa TV.
